researchers who have witnessed the ' unusual sex scene could not believe their eyes, but luckily had a camera and all documented. It is the scientific journal Journal of Ethology in Antarctica to reveal that researchers at the University of Pretoria, South Africa have observed for 45 minutes the brutal attempts to seal a young male to mate with a king penguin. It is true that there are several animal species that do not reject the "strange famolo" made famous by the film by Carlo Verdone, but perversions, though these may be called, about the most similar species. The case observed by South African researchers is instead the first ever documented, the attempted coupling between a mammal and a bird.
Scholars were on a beach at Marion Island, an island near Antarctica where there are many colonies of seals and penguins, and were conducting research on sea lions. When they saw the royal seal pounce on the penguin thought that he wanted to eat, but far grasping with the mouth, the sea lion about 100 pounds of weight was lying on the penguin (about 15 pounds, it is unknown whether male or female) and started to rub on the poor guy trying to penetrate it. "The movements of the seals were unmistakable - said Nico de Bruyn of the Mammal Research Institute in Pretoria - the young male's copulatory movement alternated with moments when he was stopped on the penguin. The poor man was trying to get back on their feet, flapping wings, but not could free themselves from the weight of her attacker. " After about 45 minutes of attempts to the male vacuum seal is gone thrown back into the sea and the penguin has fled, apparently without injury. "Although this is strange: the seal could make a bite and instead let him go," said de Bruyn.
Researchers discover their remit to review the scientific community: "The attack can be led to a sexual act at a later date - assumed de Bruyn - the seal was young, he could be too small for a male mating with an adult female, but struggling with the first sexual arousal. He may have attacked the penguin to eat, as normal, then the attack could have turned into a sort of game, in fact resulted in a sexual play on the excitement. "
are speculations that may eventually be validated by other observations. Certainly this type of behavior has never been documented before, because, as mentioned, there is no interaction between the two species if not for the fact that one is the predator of the other. There are many animals including the coupling is not preceded by a courtship but a real attack and it is not uncommon to see puppies that mimic the act sex with each other, but in games that take place between individuals of the same sex. The pinnipeds such as seals, otters and sea lions are known for their bloody copulas, preceded by real aggression and is often mate that between similar species (for example, a sea lion with a seal), giving rise to hybrids. The penguins, however, animals are known to be particularly faithful couples are to remain together for life.
